The proposed Shelter Project

At the Bira Foundation, our mission is deeply personal. It began with one dog—Bira—who showed us the heartbreaking reality of what so many abandoned animals endure. Rescued from an unhygienic shelter, Bira was covered in ticks, soaked in muddy water, and in dire need of care. That moment opened our eyes to a crucial gap: the difference between a Foster Home and a Happy Home—a place where animals don’t just survive but thrive, loved and cherished.

This realization became the driving force behind our Proposed Bira Shelter Project, rooted in our belief in Humanity Beyond Species. We envision a world where animals are not seen as an afterthought but as beings deserving of dignity, care, and a safe place to call home.

We are proud to announce the launch of our state-of-the-art shelter in Duhai, Ghaziabad, designed to house up to 70 animals in a clean, healthy, and eco-friendly environment. But this is just the beginning.

Our proposed shelter is more than a rescue center; it is a sanctuary of hope, built on the principles of love, dignity, and second chances. It will provide abandoned and injured animals with medical care, rehabilitation, and a nurturing environment until they find their forever homes.

The Three Proposed Phases of Change:

  • Phase 1: The Shelter & Medical Rehabilitation Center
A purpose-built facility offering immediate rescue, medical aid, and recovery for abandoned and injured animals.

  • Phase 2: Happy Homes – A Bridge to Forever
A dedicated foster space where adoption-ready animals receive training, socialization, healthcare, nutrition and most importantly love preparing them for loving families.

  • Phase 3: The Experience Centre
An interactive learning space where students, volunteers, and travelers from around the world can engage in hands-on animal welfare work, fostering empathy, action, and global collaboration.

This is where the Bira Foundation’s vision expands beyond India. We believe that innovation, sustainability, and creativity can inspire global change, and we want to invite volunteers from across the world to experience this movement firsthand.

By making India a hub for compassionate leadership, we are redefining what it means to be a changemaker. Through our Seva events, sustainability projects, and hands-on work in animal welfare, international volunteers will see India as a leader in humane innovation—not just a place of history, but of progress.

Along with the on-ground rescue and rehabilitation of homeless and stray animals, we are also working to structurally bring about a wave of compassion in the very fabric of our society, creating a pedigree of Humanity Beyond Species.

Beyond Rescue: A Movement of Compassion

Our work doesn’t end with rescue. We are laying the foundation for a society that values and protects its animals. By integrating education and community outreach, we aim to inspire the next generation to see animal welfare as a shared responsibility.

Bira changed our lives, and now, through this foundation, we are carrying his legacy forward—one rescue, one home, one heart at a time. Because every being deserves a Happy Home.

Join us in building a world where love knows no species.
