The Origin of Bira Foundation

I never imagined that a single dog could change my life, let alone my father’s. But Bira did.

Growing up, my dad, Mr. Kamal Rampuria, was terrified of dogs—his fear was so deep-rooted that even being in the same room as one made him uncomfortable. I, on the other hand, had slowly grown to love them. When I finally convinced him to visit a shelter with me, neither of us knew that day would change everything.

That’s when we met Bira. He was abandoned, full of energy, and had the kind of spirit that made you believe in second chances. The moment I saw him, I knew he was ours. Bringing him home was the easy part—getting Dad on board was the real challenge. At first, he kept his distance, cautiously watching this muddy, tail-wagging tornado settle into our house. But Bira had a way of breaking down walls. With time, patience, and his gentle soul, Bira turned fear into love. Before we knew it, my dad wasn’t just tolerating him—he was completely smitten.

Bira became more than just a pet; he was family. He brought warmth into our home, laughter into our days, and lessons we didn’t know we needed to learn. He showed us resilience, trust, and the power of unconditional love. And he transformed my dad in a way I never thought possible.

When I left for university, I saw an entirely new side of my father. The man who once ran from dogs was now deeply devoted to them. He took care of Bira with unwavering dedication, making sure he had home-cooked meals, morning treats, and even weekend park trips. But it didn’t stop there. My dad started caring for stray dogs in our community—feeding them, taking them to the vet, ensuring they were safe. What started as one act of love for Bira grew into something much bigger.

That’s how the Bira Foundation was born. My dad wanted to honor Bira—not just as our beloved companion, but as a symbol of what love, patience, and second chances can do. The foundation stands for every dog like Bira—those left behind, those in need of a home, those waiting for someone to believe in them. It’s a mission of compassion, driven by the lessons Bira left us with.

Bira changed my family’s life. Now, through this foundation, his legacy continues—one rescue, one home, and one heart at a time because HUMANITY IS BEYOND SPECIES…
